We Need Your Stuff - Winter Clothing Drive
Things are tough for many people in our community right now, and a cold winter can make life even harder. This year, we’re seeing more people than ever before rely on our Op Shops for the essential clothing they need to keep warm.
We love that Helping Hands Op Shops are a safe space where people can access low-cost essentials, but the demand we’re facing means that keeping our racks full has become a struggle. Our supplies of winter stock have been steadily dropping, and they’ve now reached an all-time low.
This is why we’ve launched our We Need Your Stuff – Winter Warmers Clothing Drive!
We ask that you keep us in mind when you’re looking for something to do with those clothes in the back of your cupboard that you no longer wear. The next time you’re heading to a Helping Hands Op Shop, we’d love you to bring a bag of those previously loved clothes with you!
When choosing to give to Helping Hands, donations serve multiple purposes – they not only fill the racks and give vulnerable members of the community access to low-cost preloved items, the sales of those items also help us raise the money needed to fund our Emergency Aid programs, with every dollar spent in-store going back into running our Community Pantries.
There are other ways to get involved too! Helping us spread the word is the easiest way to contribute, so we’d love you to tell your friends and family about our We Need Your Stuff campaign.
Another way to support this campaign is by hosting your own clothing drive at your school, workplace, or community group. It would make a huge difference to those in need right now, and it’s easy to host a collection bin - we’ll arrange all the drop offs and pick ups!
