Bring your school, workplace, church, or community group together and help make a real difference in the lives of local families. Running a food or clothing drive is a practical and effective way to support Helping Hands.

Whether you’re planning a one-off collection or a longer-term initiative, our team will support you every step of the way. We can provide portable wheelie bins, steel donation cages, or our iconic blue donation bags to make your campaign simple, organised and impactful.

Running a food drive

Our Community Pantries rely on non-perishable food items to keep shelves stocked all year round.

We welcome donations such as:

  • Canned vegetables, fruit, soups and legumes

  • Pasta, rice and noodles

  • Breakfast cereals and oats

  • Long-life milk

  • Tea, coffee and sugar

  • Cooking oil

  • Pasta sauces and simmer sauces

  • Tinned tuna and salmon

  • Baked beans and spaghetti

  • Peanut butter and spreads

  • Biscuits and lunchbox snacks

  • Toiletries and personal care items

All items should be unopened, in date, and in good condition.

Running a clothing drive

Clothing drives help us stock our Op Shops and provide quality clothing to individuals and families experiencing hardship. We ask that all items are clean, in good condition, and suitable for re-wear.

We welcome:

  • Gently worn, clean clothing for all ages

  • Jackets and coats

  • Shoes in good condition

  • Handbags and accessories

  • New underwear and socks

From time to time, we run specific campaigns for high-need items (for example, back-to-school snacks, Christmas hampers, or winter essentials).

Keep an eye on our website and social media pages to see what’s most needed right now!

How do I get started?

  1. Fill out the form below to register your drive.

  2. We’ll be in touch to lock in your drive details, timeframe, and any specific requirements to help make it a success.

  3. If needed, we can provide bins or donation bags to make collecting items simple and organised.

  4. When your drive wraps up, you can arrange drop-off directly to us — or we can chat about the possibility of a pick-up.

    It’s that simple!
