Gaye’s and Carol’s Vintage Shop
Anyone who’s visited Gaye’s Vintage, whether that be in Knighton Ave or its new home in McIntosh Street, would know Carol’s smiling face and her dedication to Helping Hands. You may also know that everything Carol does to keep Gaye’s Vintage looking perfect is in honour of Gaye.
Our beautiful Gaye was the manager of our little Op Shop in Knighton Avenue. Back in 2008, when we first opened the doors to our Knighton Ave shop, Gaye was one of our very first customers. She soon became a volunteer, and then a very dear friend. In 2011, Gaye stepped into a manager role and turned our shop into the vintage wonderland many of you know it as today. Gaye not only created a beautiful space, she also lived out the values of kindness, inclusivity, and graciousness every single day.
In 2018, we very fittingly made the decision to rename the shop to “Gaye’s Vintage Shop”. Gaye bravely fought cancer for the last few years of her life, and it was important to us to do something to recognise the enormous impact she has had on our charity. On the day we promised Gaye that her shop would be her legacy, Carol made a similar commitment to her best friend – that she would ensure that Gaye’s Vintage would live on, and she would uphold everything that Gaye held dear.
Over the last seven years, Carol has put her heart and soul into upholding that promise. Every day, Carol goes above and beyond to ensure that our vintage shop always looks its best – she has been and irreplaceable addition to our charity.
Her tireless commitment to Gaye’s Vintage, and to Helping Hands, shines through in everything she does, which is why we have made the decision to once again rename our vintage shop.
We’re excited to announce that our vintage shop is now named “Gaye’s and Carol’s Vintage Shop”, in recognition of two beautiful women who have had the most incredible impact on our charity.
